Emily Murtaugh

BA English and Psychology, University of Colorado at Boulder Secondary Teaching License

After calling many towns in many states home, Emily is now happy and lucky to call Colorado home. Growing up, Emily’s family moved due to her father’s job; all the moves have ultimately allowed Emily to appreciate different groups of people, develop many interests, and interact with people from all over. Now, as a high school teacher, Emily uses the experiences of her youth to help her interact with, understand, and appreciate the variety of students she encounters every year. Currently, Emily teaches at Dakota Ridge High School; for two years, she was in Colorado Springs at Rampart High School after completing student teaching at Horizon High School through the School of Education at CU Boulder. Emily has experience with students of all abilities and interests, including AP, IB, and ESL. Teaching has been her calling since a very young age, but recently, a new baby girl (Grace) has encouraged Emily to teach part-time in the classroom and spend more time at home. This change then allowed Emily to seek time for her true passion of small group or one-on-one instruction through tutoring at Peak Learning Solutions. During her free time, the little that may exist, Emily enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and two dogs doing anything outside including gardening, exploring Colorado, and reading a good book in the shade of a patio umbrella.
